How to Become a ¡PUEDE! Scholar

Project funds 6 bilingual school psychology and 6 bilingual speech language pathology graduate students each year, and students remain on the project for a 2-year cycle. In the final year, some of the scholars will be supported for a third year. Financial assistance is available.

¡PUEDE! Scholars are selected from first-year Speech Language Pathology (SLP) candidates, and from second-year School Psychology (SP) candidates. Thus, all PUEDE! Scholars must first be accepted into one of these graduate programs:

¡PUEDE! Project Application

When applying to the PUEDE! Project, you must provide:

  • CV or resume
  • Language proficiencies
  • Application essays on interest in high needs youth
  • Depth and breadth of knowledge base with Latino DL/EL populations
  • History of collaboration
  • References

Project applications also require an affidavit assuring that candidates understand the service obligation requirements, the Pre-scholarship Agreement and Exit Certification. The leadership team reviews and rates application and interviews candidates to select each cohort.
