Cecy Beltran

It takes a wide variety of skills to be successful as an administrative support coordinator, and Cecy Beltran has perhaps the widest range of skills imaginable. Cecy is a master of multiple languages, family budgeting, healthy living and even morning zoo radio! Find out more in this edition of 7 Things You Didn’t Know About Faculty and Staff.

  1. Cecy worked in radio for more than 13 years. Although her responsibilities were administrative while working at Fresno radio stations, Cecy graced the mic on a couple occasions. The first time was as a co-host on Y-101, a Top 40 radio station, on their morning show “Y-Morning Zoo.” A couple of years later, Cecy was back on the mic — this time in Spanish as an afternoon drive traffic reporter for La Buena, a Mexican regional station. "Hola que tal, muy buenas tardes, soy Cecy Beltran con el reporte de tráfico."

  2. Cecy is a boy mom. She is kept busy on the weekends by two energetic boys. Riley and Jace, ages 7 and 4, are masters at keeping her on her toes. She enjoys spending time with them playing STEM games or enjoying the outdoors on hikes.

  3. Cecy is debt-free. Financial literacy was not a passion in Cecy's life until she and her husband got tired of seeing their well-earned money go to lenders every month. In the summer of 2017, she and her husband got laser-focused about their debt. After 22 months of budgeting and fewer runs to Target, they were able to pay off their credit cards, student loans and car loans. Budgeting has now become a way of life in the Beltran household!

  4. Cecy is an avid sports fan. She loves attending her two boys' year-round sports activities. When her boys are not playing, they are supporting the San Diego Loyal Soccer Club, the professional soccer team her husband works for. Aside from that, she is devoted to watching the Atlanta Braves, Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Lakers. Attending sporting events with her family is her favorite form of entertainment.

  5. Cecy camped out in a shopping mall parking lot. For Thanksgiving one year, she was part of a radio station canned food drive promotion for a local food bank. She camped out in an RV for 72 hours — three whole nights! But it was well worth it to bring food to families in need.

  6. Cecy likes to take on new hobbies. In 2019, she took up learning Brazilian Portuguese. Initially she had no plans of learning a third language until her husband came home with a Rosetta Stone Brazilian Portuguese edition. What started as a curiosity to know more about another culture has since turned into her favorite hobby. She hopes to be fluent enough to visit Sao Paulo with her family in the near future.

  7. Cecy is a health nut. She enjoys working out throughout the week and looks forward to meal planning on weekends. She finds mindfulness and relaxation through meditation, cupping and yoga.
