How to Get Hired

Step 1: Review the Service-Learning Tutor - Job Description.

Step 2: Submit a complete Service-Learning Tutor Application for Fall 2022.

Step 3: Interview. The Pathways team will schedule an interview with you after we receive a complete application.

Step 4 If hired, complete the on boarding process including Pathways HomeRoom Modules, TB Test, and Livescan.

Check with the SDSU Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship to review if eligible for Federal Work-Study.

 

Service-Learning Course Information

These courses provide you with a collaborative service-learning experience to develop professional skills through reflective practice. The two components of this course: (1) university course work in tandem with (2) tutoring at partner schools will equip you with skills to be an effective tutor and will guide you on forming reciprocal relationships with students and teachers.

Where We Tutor

We currently have have 25 partner schools with opportunities to support elementary, middle, and high school students in San Diego, California. Tutors have the opportunity to select their top choices. We match tutors with the school site based on the school site needs, funding, subjects, and teacher requests.

When we tutor

Tutors have the flexibility to build their schedule to meet the needs of our partner school sites and their availability. We prefer to have a consistent schedule for each semester. Most tutors commit to 10 hours per week. The minimum commitment is four hours per week and the maximum is 20 hours per week.

Fall 2022 Virtual Open Hours starting August 17: 
Tuesday 1:00-2:00pm, Wednesdays 1:00-2:00pm, Thursday 3:00-4:00pm
Pathways Office Hours in North Education 280: Tuesday, Wednesdays, Thursday 10:00-4:00pm
