Dr. Alberto M. Ochoa co-founded the Center for Equity and Biliteracy Education Research in 2004 and retired as a faculty member in 2013. Dr. Cristina Alfaro became the Executive Director of CEBER in 2013.

Dr. Cristina Alfaro is Provost Chair of Faculty, Diversity and Inclusion at San Diego State University; Professor in the Department of Dual Language and English Learner Education; and Executive Director of CEBER. Alfaro investigates: (a) dual language teacher preparation, (b) transnational/binational teacher education, (c) ideological clarity and critical consciousness development and (d) program leadership and evaluation.
