Retreats and Institutes
Retreats and institutes on traditional knowledge include:
- Summer institute: A 3-4 day institute on traditional knowledge, walking into worlds, identity and efficacy.
- Winter and spring institutes: These Institutes vary by year. They may extend immersion in local knowledge, may include a sweat lodge, or provide specialized training.

Summer Immersion
The HARMONY summer immersion is an individualized experience in which HARMONY Scholars propose ways to extend their learning about working with Indigenous cultures.
Often this involves extending personal work in identity and community, but also may include work on a reservation, interviews, school visits, or healing ceremonies.
For Indigenous Scholars, "going home" is an essential part of staying connected with community as they move through the graduate programs.
Each is asked to submit a proposal by March 1 for the following summer.
