Important Dates for Fall 2026

Application Instructions

Step 1: Submit Cal State Apply Application to SDSU

SDSU uses the California State University common admission application through the Cal State Apply website. Complete the first steps through the SDSU Graduate Admissions Office.

Step 2: Submit Slate Application to Program

Within 72 hours of submitting your Cal State Apply application, you will receive an email containing a personalized link to Slate, where you must complete your program application.

Please ensure that all required program-specific documents listed below are prepared in advance and ready to upload to your Slate application.

Items Requested in Program Application

• Resume/CV: Provide a copy of your current resume or Curriculum Vitae (in English, Spanish or Spanglish).
• Letter of linguistic proficiency and commitment to the certificate: En Español o Spanglish, escribe una carta de no más de 2 páginas sobre tu compromiso con el certificado. The letter will help the program determine your linguistic proficiency in the Spanish(es) or Spanglish languages. For that reason, es importante que escribas la carta sin ningún tipo de ayuda editorial o de traducción. La carta debe incluir las siguientes consideraciones:
  
  • ¿Cuál es tu compromiso con el propósito del certificado?
  • ¿Qué esperas aprender de tu participación en el certificado?
• Video en Español o Spanglish: Para determinar tu proficiencia oral en Español/Spanglish, graba un video de 3 o 4 minutos en el que nos cuentes (without reading off from a document) sobre los orígenes históricos, geográficos, familiares, sociales, o culturales de tus idiomas Español/Spanglish e Inglés.

Step 3: Submit Official Transcripts

After you submit your Cal State Apply application, send Official Transcripts from all postsecondary schools attended to SDSU. Continue to monitor your email account for correspondence from SDSU.

Step 4: Monitor my.SDSU

Be sure to follow all instructions provided by SDSU, particularly those related to setting up your my.SDSU account. Once your account is active, regularly monitor your my.SDSU Application To-Do List for any items or requests issued by Graduate Admissions. Prompt attention to these items is essential to avoid delays in the processing of your application.

Two virtual information sessions facilitated by marcela polanco will be held in Fall to provide prospective students more information about the admissions process and the program.

Information sessions about our Spanglish Decolonial Healing Certificate will be held virtually through Zoom (TBD).

We will talk about our Marriage and Family Therapy program. Please fill out this interest form to receive information, updates, and reminders on this.
