Subject Matter Prep - Elementary
Each Program of Elementary Subject Matter Preparation shall consist of a minimum of 84 semester units, or equivalent quarter units, including, but not limited to, language studies and literature; mathematics; science; social science, history, and humanities; visual and performing arts; physical education; and human development.
The core program consists of 86.5 semester units which includes required courses in:
- Reading, Language & Literature (24 units)
- History and Social Science (15 units)
- Mathematics (13.5 units)
- Science (14 units)
- VAPA (12 units)
- Physical Education (2 units)
- Human Development (3-6 units)
There must be a concentration of a minimum of 12 semester units in one of the identified content areas.
The three concentrations (Reading, Language & Literature; Mathematics; and Science) include at least 12 semester units. The required courses can be found in the General Catalog.
