Outstanding Grad Spotlight: Olivia Van Winkle

It's safe to say Olivia Van Winkle made the most of her SDSU experience. As a liberal studies major, she enthusiastically sought out opportunities for career development, networking and involvement in student organizations. She was a member of both the College of Education Student Council (COESC) and Student California Teachers Association, serving as president of COESC this past year.
"I’ve gained such valuable insight and have become more well-rounded and confident as a future educator," said Van Winkle, who grew up in Orange County.
After graduation, Van Winkle aims to work with children as a career, initially as an elementary educator, and perhaps later as a principal or school board member. But first, she'll be spending the summer abroad, working with the children of U.S. service members stationed in Germany as part of the Rocket Kids program.
Van Winkle selected Patricia Lozada-Santone, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, as her Most Influential Faculty Member.
"She has ignited my passion to work with students and collaborate with others to provide career and social opportunities for our college," Van Winkle said.
