Online Single Subject Bilingual Credential

Middle/High School Bilingual and General Education Teaching

This fully online program prepares the next generation of in-demand teachers for bilingual Spanish middle or secondary school classrooms. The credential authorizes the holder to teach in the candidates’ subject major (e.g., Science, Math, Social Science, English, ELD, Spanish, etc). In addition, it authorizes the teacher to provide instruction in the primary language.

*depending on the size of the language cohort and the availability of instructors.

Prerequisites

Only students in the Classified Employee Grant with the Butte County Office of Education (Classified Grant or Future Educators Grant) are eligible for the online program. Prerequisites for the online program are the same as for the face-to-face version of the program. Visit How to Apply (for prerequisites) and Exit Requirements for more information.

Course Sequence

This course sequence is adapted, as needed, for students choosing a 4-semester, part-time credential program option. It is the same for both face-to-face and online. See Program Structure, Courses & Learning Outcomes for more details.

Student Teaching

The student teaching format for the online program is hybrid. Both online and in-person. Visit Student Teaching to see details about when student teaching begins and how school placements occur.
