Undergraduate Programs
- Liberal Studies Major: An interdisciplinary major that offers a broad undergraduate experience and was designed for future teachers, primarily at the elementary level, but also at the middle school level. Additionally, Liberal Studies prepares students to enter credential programs in general education, special education and bilingual education.
- Accelerated Curriculum for Educators (ACE) Minor: An accelerated pathway for students enrolled in specific majors to earn their undergraduate degree and teaching credential in four years.
- Cultural Proficiency Minor: A unique opportunity for SDSU undergraduate students across colleges and degrees to design a personalized experience around cultural proficiency practices.
Preliminary Teaching Credentials
- Multiple and Single Subject Credential Programs (Elementary - High School): Programs designed to prepare you to become a teacher in California public schools. The Preliminary Teaching Credential is a state-issued license that authorizes you to teach in a self-contained classroom from preschool through 12th grade.
Master of Arts Degrees
- M.A. in Mathematics and Science Education: A one-year, 24-unit program that is, nationwide, one of the only master's programs focused on K-12 mathematics and science teaching.
- Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Language Arts: A unique 30-unit program with summer-only courses designed for teachers in grades K-12 with a focus on current knowledge in reading and language arts.
- Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Elementary or Secondary Education (Online): A one-year, 30-unit program - 10 courses - that is completely online and is ranked #3 in online education master's programs in the nation.
- Reading and Literacy Education Graduate Programs (Online M.A., RLAA, RLLSC): Reading and literacy programs prepare you to become a reading/language arts specialist in schools, clinics, or community colleges. You'll gain the knowledge and skills to teach, tutor, develop curriculum, and direct reading centers for students from Pre-K through community college.
