Bio

Dr. Naomi Ramirez received her Ph.D. in Education from San Diego State University and Claremont Graduate University. She teaches education, ethnic studies and anthropology courses at San Diego State University, Pasadena City College and Palomar College and runs iThrive Pathways Incorporated, a nonprofit for community building and educational support services. Through her profession she has redirected her work toward college student mentorship,  empowering marginalized students through creative expression, self-reflexivity, autoethnography, storytelling, and visual representation. This is all a means to counter the active invisibilization of students’ lived experiences and histories, and to foster healing, self-love, and social justice within and beyond classroom spaces.
