Those students whi indicate interest in ITEP program in ECSE are admitted to the program. In year 3, the admitted students do not only take SPED courses but also take several Child Development Courses to meet the Child Development Major requirements as well as ECSE credential requirements. In year 4, the students continue taking SPED credential courses and complete the requirements for SPED field experience (SPED 980D). Unlike the post-bachelor ECSE credential program, the candidates in ITEP are not required to take the two prerequisite courses SPED 502 and SPED 501. Instead, they enroll a series CFD major courses (375A and 375 B) and labs (378A and 378B). Thus, the number and hours for field experience of this program as follows:
CFD 378A: Lab (Typical Infant/Toddler Development)- 40 hours
CFD 378B: Lab (Typical Preschool Development)- 40 hours
SPED 980D: Advanced Practicum (Infant/Toddler) 300 (10 weeks for 25 hrs)
SPED 980D: Advanced Practicum (Preschool) 490 (14 weeks for 35 hrs)
Total hours minimum 800 hours
