Program Specific Applications & Required Documents

Important: Be sure to navigate to the correct program admission page PRIOR to starting a program application. After you begin, you will not be able to change the program to which you are applying, but will instead need to start a new application. All links are program specific, so be sure you are on the correct admissions page before starting the application.  Also, verify that the front page of the Interfolio program application indicates the program you are applying to.  You cannot "Google" Interfolio to access the program application-you must use the links below.

Doctoral & Educational Specialist Degree Programs

Our college was honored to be among the first to partner with other institutions in offering a joint doctoral program, and our partnership with Claremont Graduate University endures. In addition to the Ph.D., the college is proud to offer the Ed.D. and Ed.S. (Education Specialist) degrees.

Master's Degree Programs

The College of Education offers graduate study leading to a Master of Arts (M.A.) or Master of Science (M.S.) degree in education in various concentrations. Some of these concentrations are designed to permit concurrent completion of an advanced credential.

Preliminary Credentials

A teaching credential is a state-issued license to teach in a public school. California law requires all teachers in CA public schools to hold a valid teaching credential. Approved College of Education teaching credential programs are offered for the multiple subject credential and the single subject credential, as well as for bilingual and special education. An administrative services credential prepares effective school administrators and will show you how to inspire your colleagues, empower your students, and transform your school community.

Advanced Credentials

California has a 2-tier credential structure. A 5-year preliminary credential is the first credential issued after an individual meets basic credential requirements. A clear credential is issued when all credential requirements have been completed. Clear a preliminary credential or learn more about one of our other advanced credential programs.
Clear Credential
General Education Induction Program (no longer offered at SDSU; visit San Diego County Office of Education)

Pupil Personnel Services (only available with MS in School Counseling)
Advanced Credential

Certificates and Added Authorizations

Both certificates and added authorizations provide additional professional skills and expertise; one is sanctioned by San Diego State University and the other by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).
